- 01Chart every observed play—including unknown or broken plays—so the denominator represents the complete film sample.
- 02Separate observations into at least three meaningful situations, such as early down, third down, red zone, transition, set piece, or special teams.
- 03Complete the situation, result, and scouting notes on each play; create a separate record when the same call produces a different result or appears in a different context.
- 04Chart every snap or possession in the selected film—not only memorable calls—and keep each opponent’s percentage denominator separate.
